OYEKU + TANGIENTS: John Vorus, Chelsea Ray, and Be Hussey

OYEKU + TANGIENTS is a new collaboration of sound explorations.

OYEKU is the moniker for ambient and sound exploration by John Vorus. Using a variety of sound sources (didjeridoos, electronics, frame drum), Vorus works with the prana of pure sound to open up altered destinations for fellow intrepid explorers. He has worked with ambient stalwart Steve Roach, Grammy-nominated fiddle player Casey Drissen, Grammy-winning bassist Eliot Wadopian, and others.

A Yoruba word, Oyeku is a reference to the completion of cycles, darkness, and ancestral connections.

TANGIENTS is a duo incorporating voice, guitars, and electronics to create a mix of modern shoegaze and ambient sounds. Chelsea Ray’s dream-like vocals float over the duo’s thick wall of sonics. Partnered with Grammy-winner Be Hussey’s dense production, the result is a futuristic yet timeless collection of songs that make up their debut full-length Embers.
