L.A. duo TANGIENTS is a two-sided enigma, a dichotomy, a shadow and its’ reflection. Maybe they have something to prove. Maybe they can’t decide if they’re a modern day post-punk outfit or an early-80s-inspired shoegaze dreamscape weavers. Maybe it doesn’t matter, because it hits.
Chelsea Ray’s intense, yet dream-like vocals can pierce as well as float over multi-instrumentalist Be Hussey’s thick wall of sonics. Hussey is a producer with vast recording and touring experience (GUIDES, Radar Bros.). Paired with Chelsea Ray’s “mystifying voice [that] has that haunting Björk timbre” (Turn Up The Volume), TANGIENTS is “ethereal bliss at its finest” (Magnetic Magazine).
The new single “Hazel” is many things at once. Menacing guitar noise and grinding bass meet polyrhythms that harken back to the original song, yet add a fresh take on this obscure classic. Not a tribute, but a re-imagined interpretation, boiled down to its essence then completely built up anew. The result is a sonic blast of driving beats and vocal beauty. "Hazel" is available on iTunes, Bandcamp, Spotify, and all streaming services. TANGIENTS will release their debut EP in 2019.
CHELSEA RAY - vocals, guitar

“Where post punk, shoegaze and the dreamier side of elegant pop music meet” -Destroy // Exist
“Sporadic whips of lead guitar harass the track to within an inch of its life and those menacing lines of synth lift the chorus parts brilliantly. As debut singles go, this is impressive stuff and it’ll be very interesting to hear what comes next from this band. Recommended!” -Primal Music
"Ethereal bliss at its finest, a vocal quiver to match the dissonant guitar chords, wavering off key that fits with the gothic rock greats." -Magnetic Magazine
“intense vocals – think a less strident Jehnny Beth of Savages – with Hussey’s sonic layers of synth and effects for a quite masterly first track.” -Little Indie Blog
“What a debut...Her mystifying voice has that haunting Björk timbre which reinforces the supernatural tone of this profound song. Pretty special and compelling....” -Turn Up The Volume
